To all members:
We are delighted to be able to announce the reopening of the outdoor areas of Barry Yacht Club as a result of the changes to Covid-19 regulations announced on Friday 12th March by the Welsh Government.
As we are following guidance issued by the Welsh Government and RYA Cymru Wales, we would like to highlight the changes coming into effect on the 13th March.
The increased ability to enjoy outdoor activity means that boat/equipment owners with direct access to their boats/equipment may use and/or work on them, with members of their household only and within the “stay local” guidelines.
Follow Covid Guidance
It is essential that members continue to follow guidance on social distancing and hygiene carefully and comply with guidance on interaction between different households. We have accordingly produced a series of Policy Guidelines on Covid-19 and BYC considering the following.
- The boatyard
- The cathedral
- The slipway, launching and moorings
You will notice too, that there are supporting notices and ground markings in situ. Please familiarise yourselves with what they mean in practice and contact me if you have any queries.
Please take the time to read these Guidelines before you come to the boatyard as there are important points you must be aware of even before coming through the gate in order to comply with Welsh Government and to ensure the safety of all our Members.
Equally important is the request from Welsh Government that, once boats are launched, all sailing is carried out within the owner’s capability to avoid placing unnecessary strain on the RNLI and emergency services.
Please be aware that the Clubhouse and Cathedral “galley” area must remain closed and hence there are no toilet facilities or tea-making facilities at the Club.
These Guidelines will be reviewed in line with Welsh Government updates and further notes sent out as required.
On behalf of the Executive Committee, I would like to thank you for adhering to Covid-19 lockdown rules. This has been a challenging time for us all and we look forward to meeting friends old and new as soon as safely possible.
